How Long Do Fleas Live For?
Fleas can live for a period as long as 6 months. However, the average flea does not survive for more than 2 to 3 weeks at the most.
But fleas have life-cycle that consists of three stages. The adults lay the eggs. A female adult can lay up to 50 fleas in a day. Usually, it is these eggs that cannot stick to the fur and falls down into your carpet or bedding and cause a massive flea infestation.
The eggs hatch to form the larvae. It is at this stage that the pupae can turn into a host for tapeworms by consuming them.
Finally, the adult form out of the pupae. The adult flea is persistent and hard to kill. Even if you do manage to kill then, the new eggs hatch to form new ones.
